Selena Gomez, 32, and music producer Benny Blanco, 36, have exciting news to share—they’re engaged!
The singer and actress made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, December 11.
Her post featured a carousel of photos, including a close-up of her stunning engagement ring and a heartwarming picture of the couple celebrating with hugs and laughter.
“forever begins now..,” Gomez captioned the post.
Blanco couldn’t hide his joy, commenting, “hey wait… that’s my wife.”
Selena also took to her Instagram Stories to flaunt her new ring, sharing a mirror selfie that gave fans an even closer look.
A Love That Was Years in the Making
Their relationship has been years in the making. Gomez and Blanco first crossed paths when they collaborated on the 2019 single “I Can’t Get Enough” alongside Tainy and J Balvin.
However, their romantic journey didn’t begin until June 2023.
In August 2023, Selena released “Single Soon,” a song produced by Blanco.
By December of the same year, she confirmed their relationship by interacting with fan account posts on Instagram, even leaving a heartfelt comment: “He is my absolute everything in my heart.”
The pair made their official red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmys in January, marking a new chapter in their love story.
A Glimpse Into Their Bond
During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Selena opened up about their relationship.
“Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,” she shared. “And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in. But I’d have to say overall it’s the safest that I feel and it’s been really lovely and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.”
Benny, too, has spoken fondly about their relationship. In a May appearance on The Howard Stern Show, he shared his thoughts on their future.
“When I look at her … I’m always just like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this,” he said.
A Love That Came Unexpectedly
Selena reflected on her past and how meeting Benny altered her life plans in a May interview with TIME.
“I was alone for five years and I got really used to it,” she said. “A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it.”
She added, “Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone. It just happens when you least expect it.”
Blanco echoed a similar sentiment in a WSJ. Magazine interview.
“I was the last one to know,” he admitted. “It’s crazy how your partner could just be sitting there the whole time, right in front of your eyes, and you don’t even notice, and then you have that Clueless moment where you’re like, ‘Wait, I’m in love.'”
Heartfelt Tributes
Over the past year, the couple has shared glimpses of their love on social media.
In March, Selena posted a touching birthday tribute to Benny.
“Happy birthday baby! Your emotional endurance, positive disposition, unbelievable talent (that blows me away), undeniable humor and loving, kind heart absolutely kill me. I love you @itsbennyblanco,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of the couple.
In July, Selena shared more photos of them enjoying time together, captioning the post: “Thank you for sharing your life with me today and every day.”
