Renowned media personality Lynn Ngugi has responded to what she describes as a politically motivated campaign aimed at deplatforming her across social media platforms.
In a statement issued on December 7, Ngugi dismissed the efforts as ineffective, asserting that they have only bolstered her support and visibility.
Sharing screenshots of encouraging messages and a spike in subscriptions to her YouTube channel, Ngugi expressed heartfelt gratitude to her followers.
“This is how the campaign to cancel me by our retrogressive tribal king turned out,” she remarked.
Ngugi strongly condemned the campaign, labeling it divisive and rooted in political interests. She urged her supporters to resist such tactics, stating:
“Say no to tribal fools. It will not work! Haiti did not work, Adani did not work, Housing Levy, SHIF, livestock vaccine, churches, bribes, AU. Nothing. Must go will go.”
The controversy began when Twitter user Dennis Ouma accused Ngugi of producing tribal content allegedly aimed at inciting hatred against President William Ruto. Ouma wrote:
“Lynn Ngugi, you are not a saint but a tribal content creator spreading the current hate of Kikuyus against President Ruto.”
Ouma further called on Ruto’s supporters and individuals from other tribes to unfollow Ngugi and other Kikuyu creators, accusing them of being “anti-Ruto.”
Despite the backlash, Ngugi’s stance remains firm. She continues to focus on her work and advocacy, using the momentum from the incident to emphasize her message of unity and transformation.
