Bungoma Goliath Lands Job in Nairobi After Months of Street Struggles

Isaac Wekesa, popularly known as Bungoma Goliath, has found a lifeline in Nairobi after months of struggles and appeals for help from public figures.

The towering personality, who once worked as a boda boda rider in Bungoma, came to Nairobi seeking a better life for his family but ended up stranded and desperate.

A Turning Point in His Journey

On Monday night, after an interview with comedian Obinna, Bungoma Goliath found himself stuck on the streets with only Ksh500 in his pocket—insufficient to return to Western Kenya.

In his hour of need, he approached Geoffrey Mosiria, Nairobi’s Environment Chief Officer, who offered him shelter for the night and extended a helping hand.

A New Opportunity in Kilimani

Mosiria’s intervention didn’t stop at providing temporary relief. He secured a job for Wekesa as a bouncer at Ibiza Club in Kilimani.

The role offers him a fresh start in the city, with the chance to build a stable life.

“He told me he doesn’t want to go back home. I brought him to this club called Ibiza, and the director has agreed to give him a bouncer job. They will discuss and agree on terms and payments. He will work and fend for himself. From there, if he has other plans, he will rent a house in the city,” Mosiria said.

Wekesa is set to begin his new job on Wednesday evening.

Criticism of Past Advice

Mosiria also criticized comedian Obinna for suggesting that Wekesa return to Bungoma and resume his boda boda work.

He urged public figures to encourage people striving for a better future rather than discouraging them.

“He is not going back to Western. My friend Obinna, encourage these guys—they are just trying to fend for themselves. Even if someone is dancing badly, don’t tell him that; just tell him you have tried, but you can do better,” Mosiria added.

Unfulfilled Promises from Leaders

Wekesa’s plight had caught the attention of prominent figures, including former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and MP Peter Salasya, who had pledged to assist him.

However, their promises are yet to materialize, leaving Mosiria to take the lead in transforming Wekesa’s fortunes.
